Back to your question Elizabeth. Please forgive us for that little diversion. Have you been doing marker training with Izzy? If so, what about enlisting your mom's help in training Izzy? It seems she loves your dog, so maybe you can take a little advantage of that. Try to show her what marker training is, and then maybe let her try to teach Izzy some simple tricks, nothing that is going to interfere with the formal training you've been working on.
Of course I understand your mom may not be amenable to taking dog training advice from you. Sounds like you've tried already, but I just thought maybe if you could give your mom some specific things to work on....
Yes I have been using Marker training. But it grates my nerves when she has food and as she is feeding it to Izzy saying sitsitsitsitsitsisit and all Izzy does is jump on her and eat the treat faster. I am very proud that all I have to say was sit or down once and she complied.Though my mom acts like I am evil to Izzy when I stop her from jumping up and licking her.
I will try to talk to her again even though I don't think it will help .I believe tethering is my best bet as well as Mr.Jones said training her when my mom is not there.
aint gonna work Cheri G. you can't tell your parents nothin... I'm fifty, Mom still won't listen. she insists on leaving the attic...
You are a bad son, rotten to the core.
He's probably right, though, Elizabeth. You'll just have to get through the next month the best you can, but don't worry, she's not going to ruin Izzy.

When you are training away from your mom, you could use a different language. That keeps the commands that you use different than the ones your mother uses. I train in French and my family uses English. So, my dog responds to me giving French commands and is less responsive to my family using English. My family knows better but they are just plain lazy.
Lol! I go through this every day with my father in law. He unintentionally untrains everything I work on with Belle and my foster dogs by encouraging them to jump up on him, be rowdy dorks at the door instead of going to their "place", and ruining my marker words by going "sitsitsitsitsit" or "downdowndowndowndown". They do still listen to me, but he thinks I'm the biggest meanie ever because I won't tolerate naughtiness when my dogs know better manners. I usually have to remind him on a weekly basis of how to use marker training properly lol.
I just want to go off topic for a minute here.
Happy Birthday, Elizabeth. My youngest daughter's birthday is also Sunday. She was the best Mother's Day gift I ever could have gotten - and I am sure your mom feels the same way about you. Even if she's driving you nuts right now.
Sorry, just had to say that.
and now, back to the original topic.
Thank you Yes I love my mom very much as does she me. I listen when she has to say something but when it comes to dog training she knows zip.
To Jessica : Izzy listened to me at first but my mom gives out treats freely so she figured why should I work for one treat when I can get a whole bunch of treats at once for acting bad.
Tethering has started today
thanks for all the advice everyone.
