Thank you Connie. Thanks for letting me know about the Silk Ball ingrediants. I feed him a variety of Honest Kitchen -- Force, Embark, Thrive. I did a trial of Bio-Case for a couple months, saw no difference and finally ended up switching because of price. Have been thinking I should try the Vio-Case again. Things chnge I guess. Any info you have on the fat issue would be great. Any advice would be great -- Michael

Scroll to Why FAT should not be limited in an EPI dog's diet: (EPI: Diagnosis & Treatment by J Enrique Domínguez-Muñoz, pub Feb 16, 2011)
Couple of questions:
What is his TLI score?
Have you had him tested for SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) by checking folate/cobalamin levels?
Connie, In my experience with EPI dogs and all the reading I have done...each is a little different. Finding what works is the hard part.

Ditto with Melissa, and I would strongly urge joining one of the EPI web groups, too. Info from these folks dealing with it every day is invaluable. Every time I read the posts, I read again how very individual every dog is, and even how a dog may change in requirements.
I don't even know what a TLI score is. To best of my knowledge he has not been tested for SIBO but I do not know for sure, I will check with the vet today.
He is getting fish oil and vitamin E every day. Is that good or bad for EPI?
The TLI score is important because it shows the severity of the loss of function with the pancreas. I would definitely want this info from your vet.
Also, do some research on SIBO. My EPI girl was never truly bothered by the EPI, aside from inability to gain weight. However, if her SIBO kicked up, then we all knew it!
She has been symptom free for 5 years now...she is fed a raw diet and gets supplements (Fish Oil, Vitamin E, B-Naturals' Green, Digestion, and Immune blends). At 9 years old, we still have to watch her weight...well, watch that it doesn't go up!
thanks again so much. I will look those supplements up this evening. I have an appointment next Monday to get the blood work. I'm petty angry at my vet. I think I should have been way more pro-active, but I think they really dropped the ball as well. Now I'm on this until its solved.....
