I thought it was a different Fama... that person is using pictures of Fama and you in action, and implying that the pictures are of the dog she currently has. It's the same one that is currently in the "Hero Dog Award" contest:
Is the Army handling the adoptions? I thought that they tasked those out to private organizations.
Dealing with rescue people can be quite discouraging. They tend to think that noone is as capable of making a determination as they are, and they rarely care about the feelings of the prospective adoptees. They have their own sets of criteria, and think that they know more about what's best for a strange (to them) dog than does an applicant, who may already be familiar with the dog and/or its needs. While I understand the desire to protect the interest of a damaged dog, some of it borders on a superiority complex.
I applied to a rescue that I wholeheartedly supported for a specific dog, and instead received several attempts to steer me toward other dogs that they had been unsuccessful in adopting out.
So sorry to hear about Fama, David. I hope that you are at the very least able to locate her & find out how she is doing.
It is awful that they would do this in spite of your efforts to adopt her. What are these people thinking?!!!! Are they REALLY concerned about what is in the best interest of these dogs or are just trying to dump them somewhere? I don't understand the logic here, if there is any to be had at all.
Whoever adopted her out couldn't have spent 15 seconds trying to find me. I'm all over her records, the internet, and I worked for the company that trained and owned her.
