From the PR it doesn't sound like manufacturing practices will change. I am not a business person but having Nestle help out with marketing and management might be a smart move for Zukes.
I know if I came up with a cool pet product I'd need help from someone in the know to actually market it.

Purina has long brought us the most extensive list of terrible-ingredient dog food products I know.
Zuke's, though, has long been a trusted product with very good ingredients .... one of the few purchased marker rewards I use to help fill my "mixed bait bag."
After all these years of relying on Zuke's, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that this holds true:
"From the PR it doesn't sound like manufacturing practices will change."
I'm also going to triple my usual purchase from LB right now ( http://leerburg.com/1078.htm ) and put the extra packages unopened into a freezer baggie and freeze them. If some manufacturing change happens soon, at least I'll have a pretty good backup for a while.
(I was 99% sure there would be no freezing issue, but I asked Zuke's anyway. They said freezing is completely fine if desired ... and to thaw in the unopened package so any condensation forms on the package rather than on the product.)

I even stuck a little "test" baggie full of the package I have open now into the freezer this morning. I'll report back on the results (although I do feel very confident).
For example, if they thawed into mush, that would be pretty inconvenient for marker rewards.
But I have no suspicion that they will, and the response from Zuke's was completely positive.

Please let me know Connie, I will do the same thing if it turns out good.
Regardless of any PR releases they put out about maintaining any quality standards, I will never trust Nestle/Purina with anything that has to do with nutrition for my dog, even something as minor as treats. They have shown their #1 priority is the bottom line of their accounting books. It won't take much for some executive to realize they could get "ingredient X" from China for 10% of the price, even if it might be processed in the same facility as melamine...

I froze them overnight (and then some) and thawed in the baggie they were in, as directed. They came out just like new.
I rarely purchase training treats, usually put together something on my own. The Zukes are convenient, on the go treats, so usually have a bag hanging around. I use these too, size and texture are very close. http://www.cloudstar.com/prodcat/chewy-tricky-trainers.asp
