Thank you all so much for your kindness and support, I know you all understand more than just about everyone else I know what it's all about.
Candi, there have been many times over the years when a cup of tea with my forum friends would have been the answer to many a rough day's sadness, I wish it could be so. I will watch the film you told me about one day when things aren't so raw. It was a lovely thing you did in the memory of Hoots and Bon. Thank you.
I'm trying to adjust to sleeping in a bed again, and coming down to an empty sitting room, and after work to a dark, silent house. I feel like a stranger in my own home.
One day at a time ....
Oh, Tracey, it's a cold, dark, empty, silent & lonely house that I simply could not bear When the time is right, and your heart is ready to reach out again, I know that another four-legged Friend will enter your life to share love, comfort & joy anew -- I'm reminded now of a different beloved film ("Old Yeller") where in the end, Travis does open up to the magnetism of more canine companionship, after having to help his irreplaceable First Dog across the Rainbow Bridge himself...
Tracey, I am so very sorry for your loss... we never get used to it, and it never gets easier... I still shed tears for my Lost girls.
One day at a time... or one breath at a time, as it feels sometimes.
Know that our hearts break with yours. We know the pain, and are here for you.
Because our dogs just don’t live long enough, they always bring to mind the Frost poem
Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
