You know about the two schools of thought on the loss of a dog (take awhile to mourn your loss or get a new pup very soon). I'd go with the second option because a) keeping up with a new pup will keep your mind occupied--as you know full well--and b) each dog is UNIQUE and there is no way you can ever "replace" Sasha. But you can start to enjoy your new friend and slowly her antics will make life better for you.
i would love to get a new puppy but i think i would be nervous about things.
like, my middle son had a slight sickness when a baby so when this baby was born i didn't want him around anyone in fear of germs.
how could sasha just be sick for one day then be gone in the morning, i just have no idea what it could have been. poisoned? bad case of parvo? no idea.
another thing about getting another pup is Sasha was so great. she was my ideal dog. so inteligent, lots of energy, fast learner. i hope this doesn't sound stupid to some of you but she was not a little punk dog that ran from anything. she had balls!! she kept me on my toes. she gave me a challenge.. i loved her. and if i get another i'm sure i will be dissappointed and i don't want to bring a dog into my life to be dissapointed. that would not be a good thing for a puppy.everyone has different things that make them like certain things and Sasha was just perfect......Thanks Pete,, and everyone else for your kind words
When and if you decide to get a new puppy, you must not try and compare it with the one you lost. I have had to put down many dogs over the years. It never gets easier, and I always think I'll never have another dog like Taffy, Thunder, Rocky, etc., etc. yet each new puppy brings with it something new and exciting. You can't replace what you lost but you will definately gain by the new experiences.
How true that is OED..... My condolence's to you and your family bounetteyvette. I'm sure Sasha is heartbroken to have left you, but she awaits at the Rainbow Bridge, so you will reunite once again....

Hate to bother you with this at such a time, but there's a good chance from the symptoms that your pup DID have parvovirus. Here's a link about the disease and what you will need to do to prevent any visiting dogs (or any new pup you get) from being at risk from the disease.
Excellent advice from Pete.
As tough as it is to think about, it's necessary. I also belive in getting a new puppy asap to help with the grieving but that is a very personel choice to make.
i can only continue to say thakyou to you all for the support you are showing me. Pete i kind of came to the conclusion that that was probably what it was. i think i will wait some time to get a new puppy.i will continue to visit you all here and hopefully in some time i will get a new puppy...
