So the tracking was ok my horses were stampeding, agility dogs were barking madly.
Harley was most distracted by the deer fly bitting him.
Tryed more ob after tracking, much better.
Lots of paw handling and he is not happy about it but let me do it.

Today Gambit got a firm lesson to stay away from the rabbit hutches (also known as "don't poke stud rabbit Umbra from under the hutch or he'll try to eat you...and pee on your head...which means a bath....")
however formal stuff, Ryuk was doing heeling under distraction (by Gambit and squeaky toy) with no rewards on me, did really well until my housemates let their dog out who immediately charged him over.....
After waiting for housemates to leave so that their dog wasn't around we worked on two dog OB and heeling on opposite sides with stops AND turns. Ryuk's still figuring out pivoting on the right side.

Nothing... our TD has suggested a little break from training, so I've been reading the rulebook.

Harley to stay down while I loung a horse. He can stay in a down if a horse his being loung by any one but me. I can ride and have him stay down but if I loung he goes wild.
He did a fairly ok down but he barked like mad.
Later fater a crazy day, we did a short show off of what marker training can do in OB. Heel, down in motion, come front, pivot and crazy fetch as a reward
Dexter practice sucking up and kissing the new boarders (horse owners) and being lovable as Harley is not so easy to love or pet.

The break from training is already paying off. I've also kept Ssdie inside for a couple of days, due to the heat. The result is more desire for engagement and exercise, and this evening we had the best game of tug that we've had in six months.

today we have pouring rain and I had 6 lessons and the barn to take care of with 9 unhappy horses.
I found some time for some fetch in the indoor and did nose work. Harley was a bit rusty. I could tell that he got the smell but he was too wired to actualy stop and indicate the location at first then setle in.
Later when I close the barn we'll do some ob and more fetch.

Started working on some new ob yesterday, the 'crawl' command - not much of anything else this weekend other than a couple of outings to new places - Duke was a very good boy at the inlaws for dinner Friday night.. and I'm pretty sure he's starting to teethe a little more fiercely, the way he bites my hands has changed
He was not feeling well yesterday and ended up eating 3 meals of rice to try and settle his tummy, which made him act like a cranky toddler this morning! but oh so hungry for treats in ob. He did really well with a 'watch' and 'sit' when we were surprised by an off-leash dog at the nearby elementary school this morning. Luckily strange dog ran off.

Logan did way better with this road on mowing. I had a stuffed kong ready and went to the mower with him and hit it a few times. He didn't even look at it. I started it, no reaction, gave kong and started mowing. He stayed away at first with the kong. I only verbally corrected him for eyeballing the mower a few times..and told him to move once. Peaceful mowing achieved.
Logan has an obsessive thing about going into the workshop. I have rules about it...he must always wait outside the door until invited in, he must be calm and sit or down before I invite him in, when let in he must got strait to his bed and lay down and stay. He had a problem with trying to charge into the shop again. He knew I was going in there but I had him on a rope lead and corrected him. I informally heeled him around the yard for 10 minutes correcting him for looking at the door, whining or trying to change directions (not following me).
Its kind of hard to explain what I do but he calmed down after a while and walked nicely up to the door and sat and waited. I had to stay calm and endure his craziness. Esp during the beginning part where he bit my leg each time I corrected him. This biting was only a side effect of severe obsession and frustration...one battle at a time I say.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog. |

we have a new tractor, with a cab. Harley just bardge in and sat on my lap. There is no room in there for him to turn around or be anywhere else then on Me!
So I worked on I go in and Harley can just chill in the yard. He first try to follow me around, so I stop go out and send him to lay down near the barn with a yummy trear. We'll see if he will stay calm today.
Maybe I could teach him to operate the tractor, that would make him a real working dog

After taking three days off, it was back to tracking. Picked up where we left off; five 30m legs with four soft turns and four articles, with varying bait patterns on each leg.
Sadie was solid on all of the articles. She got a little confused between the scent pad and starting to track, but I let her work it out. She also turned the wrong way on the first two turns, but went back to the track. She was almost flawless from the second turn on, if not a tad quick on the unbaited leg.
Considering we did no work of any kind all weekend, overall I'd say it was a "B" grade.
