One more cold rainy day, time for new stuff.
Started send around. Harley figure it out quickly but first tried every other tricks he could think of. He barked, bring, touch, paw, indicate and finaly repeated the lured movement. After that it was all good
He even brought the traffic cone back to me so I could put them away, smart pup.
Dexter got as far as luring aroud the cone, then following my hand with out food around and reward from the other hand.

Tracked on unfamiliar terrain this morning. Sadie struggled on the first two turns yesterday, so I laid a short track with some u-turns and soft turns, and four articles.
She struggled leaving the scent pad again (probably due to the unfamiliar surface), and with the first turn. She lifted her head and made some wide head swings on the second leg, again pbly due to the terrain. After that she settled in and was solid. Article indication was solid, but I would like to improve her position.
Ants were a big problem. I've tracked on every available piece of ground around home, and ants have taken over all of them with the onset of summer. I really need to find a field with some lush grass, so that we can work out the starts and turns, but the ants are making it almost impossible.
Today's grade= C+

The fields are swamps, the black flies deadly so tracking is not looking good.
We have been playing with the send around the cones and Harley just got the idea of the patern. I added a 3rd cone and he just went around it not problem even with some longer distances. He did add some speed too.
And basic ob for both boys, that is one thing that Dex can do well at his own slow speed not very expressive but happy to do it for a treat.

Still working on the send around. Harley was good so I move the game outside. Got a lot of distraction, clients coming and out, Dexter roming in the way and a bunny dashed across the barn yard.
Well he stayed focus on the task.
Tracking will resume soon, the grass is now super tall so I need to do some serious bush wacking first.

Today we did some heeling and started to do sits downs stands from far away but I think he is still sore after seeing the chiropractor. Played a little fetch, I saw he wasn't into it. Poor baby. We went and chilled on one of the vacant playground fort things.
If he just wasn't so crazy and would slow down and not hurt himself. *sigh*

Club night, with scattered showers. There was some thunder, which sends Sadie's drives over-the-top, so she was a handful. Did some desensitizing and OB, then most of the club left. Four of us were left. Took a new member's young GSD and did some excellent prey drive development.
I had another decoy lesson with a seasoned dog who needs work on his revier. Good learning session for me, although one presentation was slow and I ended up giving the bite too close to the end of the sleeve. Other four bites were good, and my agitation work was better.
Because my work was better, I got to feel the dog put some real pressure on the sleeve. This was the first time I felt a difference in bite pressure.

Tracking failed due to excessive flies attacking Harley. He just gave up and tried to get the bugs off. He must have had about 50 mosquitoes and horse flies on him.
I set a super easy track for later with lots of bait.

How did that go, Ariane? I liked your plan to set an easy track with lots of bait to get past the horrible buggy experience. JMO, but that's what I would do too.
