Tracking this weekend was a disaster..ants are back, and more numerous than before. Had to abandon the track one day, tried to track with no bait the next day and Sadie got really confused.
Yesterday and today were back to basics on super short tracks in a small area that doesn't have ants. Pretty good tracking, but a few misses on articles. She had been very solid on articles. Gonna have to take my time and keep it simple til she gets her confidence back. Just don't know what to do about these darn ants.

Duane, I don't remembe who told me last year but canned tuna is one bait that ants don't like.
It worked well for us last year. We have lots of sand so lots of ants.

Too hot for anything.
Our post office will let us bring dogs inside when it is hot, so we worked on ignor the other dogs and clients. 2 BC, 1 GSD and my 2 dobes
one poor lady was terrified. All dogs were very good and just chilled with their owner

Thanks for the tip, Ariane.
Sadie was all confidence on the short track this morning. She didn't eat the food I gave her, so when she found food on the track, her drive went through the roof. She was so wound up that she skipped the third article. I circled her and put her back on the track, and she didn't miss any more, but she practically ran the last leg of the track.
Grade= B-
Note to self; Tracking has become a reward for Sadie. As such, no breakfast, no tracking

Stil hot but not so bad, so nosework was today work.
I can now trow the target out in tall grass and have harley find it, boxes and drawer were becoming boring.
The down indication is getting better. No more barking but he will still jump or paw at the find

Logan earned off-leash freedom in the workshop today.
Its been way to hot to do anything, training wise. Even in the evening we just do a structured walk, no running, no jumping....just a random down, wait or sit to keep him in line.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog. |

Today was mybig teaching day so lunch time nosework was it then evening walk.
It is a long week end here, St-Jean Batiste is really big in Quebec. The walk was 100 time more bussy then usual. A nice crowd for the parade and some road side sale both and a stage wit a live show and amusement park rides.
I am very lucky to have 2 no reactive dogs. Heavy distraction so very basic training but all very good.
2 yappers got into a fight and both my dogs kind of look like they could not figure out what the yappers were doing. One was off leash and the other on a flex leash. The flex leash dog run across the street posturing the other one just leap out and charged. Both owners were screeming murder but doing nothing.
Put Harley in a down grab the flex leash dog off the grond so the other dog could be catched. Walk away with out a word but I gave them both a dirty look.
Dexter cut his back paw playing at home after. He is now hoping on 3 legs. He walk fine without the warp He was very good about me looking in the cut and cleaning and warping the foot.

So Dexter is being good about his paw being handle.
i use poly, non stick gauze, and vet warp.
He now will walk on the bandage but prefer the poor dog 3 leg hop.
Warp is change daily, Harley misses his play buddy but has me all for him.

This morning I worked with Cody (when we went out walking) on leave it! He likes to check everything out when he goes for a walk. He is doing better on his walks and is heeling nicely.
Tonight when I walk with Bindi we will go and visit all her human friends at Petsmart and Lowe's. She loves to visit them so much she pulls at the leash, something we are going to correct. When she visits her friends tonight I am going to have them ask her to shake. I am hoping she will offer her paw .
Terra had to go back on prednisone due to an allergic reaction, she is very hyper, today I started walking her again. I hope it helps. I am working on her heeling.
WOrk on heeling at home too, on her "mark" and moving her around the "mark".
Anyway, didn't get alot of training done due to babysitting today. Am also going to reinstate the treadmill for the dogs. Love to read about what you are all doing. sharon
