Today was first day of tracking since last week, due to a family reunion preceded by 12 straight days of overtime.
We ran a short, easy track, with lots of articles. Sadie was a bit rusty and missed the first three articles. Her tracking was solid. She did quit and raise her head to check out a stork, but went back to work when commanded.
Grade= D

Another brush-up track, since we had missed articles yesterday; straight track with one soft turn at the beginning and six articles. Very solid indications on all articles, with excellent position on all but one. She started extremely solid, quickened a little and raised her head once after the second article, then finished strong.
Grade= A-

Did some ob and nosework around the barn.
Dexter is very down with his cut paw and play the part of the poor miserable dog, won't eat or get out in the morning unless I drag him out. Good thing he is not driven like Harley, so the warp stayes on pretty well as he does not try to eat/chew on it. He is also getting better at leting me doctor the paw.
Harley is very happy to be the one and only dog and he is showing off for me
But it does show that the two of them play a lot. Harley has a lot of extra energy to use. He has learned a new trick. "Attrape" catch the pigeon. The indoor arena is invaded, Harley is being usefull and he does catch the bird.

Back to tracking after a couple of days off. Had a hard time with ants and fresh-cut grass. Missed the second article. Had to redirect her back to the track for that article and a couple of rolls to shake the ants. On the last leg, she kept her nose up because she was frustrated with the ants. Kudos to her for finishing the track and indicating five of six articles very nicely, despite the challenges.
Due to degree of difficulty, I could grade her no worse than C.

Today Bindi and I worked on recalls with distractions. We also worked on the command, "Back", and "Leave it".
Yesterday cody and I worked on heel and also worked on the left finish, front and wait command. He did well. Then we practiced our touch command on a very large ball. I would say "go touch" and he would run over and touch it with his nose. He did well.
Then we practiced our mat skills and then recall and redirection to go "through" (a hula hoop) and to his "mark". He loves that exercise and did well. He is a good little dog.
Terra I tried to work on her heeling. She is a very excited and hyper dog so sometimes it is hard. But she is extremely intelligent. She did well.
Love those dogs!

We had one more long week end, so my work was all over the place.
I polish some ob with Harley, did more nosework session. He is getting more focus.
Today was tracking, 3 articles, 4 baits and just over 2km. Temperature was getting hot but Harley did really well, he had to stop a few times to get some bugs off. He did not even try to turn to the creek at a fork to go cool down.
Back at the barn he was rewarded with any freshly filled kiddy pool to lay and drink in
I have been doing a bit more with Dexter, he does every thing correctly but at his own speed (very slow)
I am still trying to get him to track, but that is not working.
He now gets all excited at the sent pad, smell, sniff and all but won't move forward even with baits space at every 4 inches!

Nothing yet but probably going to practice stays and attention with the leftover poppers as a distraction.

First tracking in several days, as ants are really hampering us. Laid a very short track with four right turns and four articles. She passed the first turn by 4 ft, then came back and got the trail. She also missed the first two articles. Her nose was deep, and she was thorough, but I don't get the refusal on the articles. Don't know if she's rusty from the inactivity or losing confidence because of the ants, but she seems enthusiastic. We'll work through it.

He's about to turn 11 weeks old so we have pretty much just been working on focus, focus and focus.

Well it was 104 today (114 yesterday) so didn't do anything yet. I dunno what to do, his food drive is super low right now...prey drive lasts about 5 seconds. He's less annoying though.
