Sadie's tags act like a bell, and I use them to alert me to her movements. I know where's she's at in the house or yard, and I can hear them if she breaks a down when I'm not looking, etc, etc.
I should use that on Logan when I practice down stays. He will sometimes stealthily stalk me as I walk across the field...head down, ears down like a lioness stalking a gazelle...its creepy. He's super quiet too.

Guess who was at the pet supplies store today. My ob session went out the door.
The pup was growling and lashing at every one, even bit the clerk who was trying to fit a halti on it. It did draw blood!
Harley did not react at the bell and I hush the boys back to the car then went back, grabbed what I needed and left. One of the girl did ask me why I was not doing my usual fun stuff and I pointed out the dangerous out of control pup.
I will try some tracking later today

Good tracking this morning. Found a corner of our home field with few ants, but the cover was different (sparse and dead grass) and wet. The new conditions were a little confusing and Sadie lifted her head a couple of times, but she tracked well, worked out the corners, and indicated on all of the articles.

Pouring rain all day...using markers I got Logan to go put his head under some water pouring out of a drain pipe just for the hell of it. He HATES water pouring on him but did it for food. After that I did some drop on recalls with him, I'd leave him in a down, then run and call him and then say down...mark reward.

Harley did a short track about 1km with 5 articles in a freshly cut hay field. He was spot on.
Dexter did got off the sent pad again but the light does not seem to go off in his head. He follow the bait trail to the jack pot but does not really try to find the track after or look back. I still think that he may not be the sharpest tool in the shead.
Ob work was ok with both boy.
Untill the bunny rabbit ran right in front of them while on loose leash going to the training ring. I nearly did a face plant with my iced coffee in hand and a water bottle under my arm for my student. It must have been quiet comical.
They both behave well during the lesson, long down and some free time in my sight but NO RUNNING a cross the ring

Today we did a little work on herding pairs, cows with young calves. The calves are fun to chase, and I don't want any chasing, just herding.
Have to go back to a long line on the dog for these playful babies.

Started the morning with a session on "hold it", then on to tracking.
Short elementary track in the neighbor's front yard, and got a break from the ants. Excellent tracking and corners, as well as the first two articles. Then missed two articles, but settled in and was perfect through the remainder and last two articles.
Had extra time, so we did another articles-only straight track; good indications on all six. Good way to end.

Not sure if this is where I would ask this. But I am working with my dog Bindi on performing at different locations. When she gets to a different location of course there are new smells, and sounds, and distractions. Since she will one day compete in Rally O I want her to get used to different locations.
My question is this. Should I stay at one location until she is not longer distracted and working well? Or should I just move her around at different locations so she can get used to things not always being the same? Example, one day take her to the outlet to heel and work, the next to the park, etc. Or would I keep her at the park until she is no longer distracted and then move on?

Hi Sharon,
I am no expert but what work for me is:
I let the dog explore for a few minutes, then depending if he is in the focus mood or not, play to get him to engage or start with a very up beat work.
I go prepare treat, toy leash...
I want my dog attention first and at first I keep is simple and easy.

Do you stay at that location until your dog is completely used to it? or do you move to other locations frequently?
I do just what you say you do. But wondering about how long to stay at a new location.
