Cassie, if your Lab sub-thread needs expanding, please start a new one.
We already have two merged threads here... hijack not so great. LOL
Thanks.

... I wanted to see if anyone here has had experience with this type of diet or this disease they are treating him for. (right now the vets are trying to rule out different things. They are treating him for reflux for 10 days to see if his symptoms improve.) .... This is the first time the symptoms of upset stomach have appeared and lasted this long. (2 weeks) He is only having problems in the morning when he wakes up he needs to eat right away. ...
"He is only having problems in the morning / when he wakes up he needs to eat right away" ...
What happened with late-night snack? How late, how much food? Did something else happen to preclude that late-night-snack experiment?
Just a side note....if it truly is GERD, a late night snack would probably make it worse (if it makes it better - it's probably not GERD). Late night snacks with GERD will increase acid production that will then sit around in the stomach and cause the vomiting episodes in the morning.
The other problem this can cause if not treated with a PPI (i.e., Prevacid, Prilosec, Protonix, etc) or an H2 Blocker (i.e., Tagamet, Zantac) or something is that gastric and esophageal erosions and ulcers can occur.
I'm going to restate my warnings from the other post here:
If your dog vomits something other than bile - especially blood (bright red or old, dark black appearing - either one) - CALL YOUR VET
If your dog passes bright red blood in his stool, or has black, tarry stools - CALL YOUR VET
Bright red blood is a sign that something is ACTIVELY bleeding.
Old blood will appear black - both in vomit and in stool. This means something HAS BEEN but probably is not actively bleeding. That doesn't mean it can't or won't start again.
Either way, it's something that needs to be addressed ASAP.
I want to reiterate again....my recommendations and opinions expressed here are from 20 years experience as a human GI nurse. Nothing more, nothing less.

According to the O.P.:
" if he doesn't get his breakfast quickly, he does throw up what looks like bile, no blood, small amount of bile. "
Sharon, has something superseded the original post?
Dana, what was the other post you mention here: "I'm going to restate my warnings from the other post here." ?
I must have missed something from another thread.
Is the dog still:
"if he doesn't get his breakfast quickly, he does throw up what looks like bile, no blood, small amount of bile. " (original post)
and "He is only having problems in the morning when he wakes up he needs to eat right away" (today's new thread)?

Yes, Connie....need to know what has changed, if anything, and why they believe it's GERD and how they are treating it.
What other test results are they waiting for, too?
