i can't access the youtube video's...it says it's private and i have to be invited to view it.
but the article was bad enough.
The Foster Family that had Tucker was a horrible place. Smelly, dirty and from what i was hearing they kept Tucker in the basement most of the time. I think that even if i hadn't already 60% decided i wanted him, i would've taken him anyway just to get him out of there.
I emailed the rescue and told them my concerns, but i never heard anything back from them.
A person in our agility class fostered Golden Retrievers. She said they never did a home check or anything on people wanting to become foster parents, only people who wanted to adopt. What a shame.
This blows my mind. I had to fill out an application and have a home visit...then had to be interviewed again because my yard is not fenced.
There is another rescue in our area that will send home adopted pets the same day as the application is recieved and never does a home visit...and they are well known and considered to be a great organization. I don't see how that is any different than craigslist.
Did anything seem unusual when you went there Samantha? With the amount of bones they are finding it seems like dogs were left to die/be killed from day one.
The only thing that seemed off was there were three dogs that were thin (ribs and hip bones visible). She told me she'd just taken them in, but they were not for adoption at the time. About two months later I saw an ad on craigslist with a picture up that looked something like one of the dogs, and it was much fatter than the dogs I'd seen in person. That dog was listed as 'adoptable'.
I just feel so sick about it. I keep thinking about it. What if I walked away and those three dogs starved to death? What if it was a different dog I saw?
To be honest, there were some very healthy, beautiful dogs and cats on the property. I really had no idea it was coming to this.

A lot of people were on her property and did not see anything remiss until the end. 11 wooded acres you have some room to hide stuff.
It's not the first "rescue" she has run and fund raised for. Apparently she is pretty good at fooling people.
I post this kind of stuff to remind all of us, myself included, about what can happen to our animals if we are not diligent. And with the hopes that we may ask tougher questions in the future or demand concrete answers.
There are a lot of good rescues out there and I don't want to take away from them. On the whole when something like this comes to light it's usually the good rescues that have outed them.
