henry did his first trip in the whistler village gondola today .
the lift wasn't ready to go , so i used the wait time in the load station to do henrys' basic engagement stuff : charge the mark , hand touches , sits , touch pad on a bench , pre-heeling , downs , luring chases . . . all in all about 15 mins total , but broken up into smaller segments . this is a location that will become one of the ( busy ) focal points when his work career starts so it was good to get him thinking that this is one of the places where good stuff with me could / will happen . there was a little bit of people traffic in the station and i was impressed how he tuned that out to play with me .
prior to that we did a little work in the staff locker room , where our days will start once winter rolls around . first , i got him acquainted with the girls who work behind the counter . obviously they want to do the hugs and kisses , but they know that henry is there to work so i involve them in his training . first , he learns that jumping up is no way to get attention .
after we did that , he gets tied out near my locker . for every few seconds that he sat quietly , he got a bit of kibble placed at the location where i want him to settle . no commands at all . then i do some random walks around the locker room , out of his sight . as long as he remains quiet , i plan my walk to go by him and casually place the kibble on the spot . this went very well , so then i got one of the counter girls to go by him , no engagement , and if he was quiet , place a kibble on the spot . i got two good repeats out of that .
the gondola ride went well . i put him up on the seat beside me and food rewarded for every brief calm period . this was the first time he had ridden outside the crate and i think that by having done 8-10 rides in the crate he was quite comfortable with the journey . unlike hector , who will hold a down the entire trip , but is just vibrating with pent-up energy while he checks each passing gondola cabin and makes sure each tower is good to go !

Club night...
Trying to prepare for Bh. Did partial OB routines on- and off-leash, with some sits out of motion and lots of au pieds. Before joining the club, Sadie had a heel command for normal walks. For the focused heeling, I added a new command, "fuss", so that I could keep the heel for regular walking. We've been working on focus for the "fuss" with slow progress, but she was excellent tonight. I was very happy for her.
Aside from the OB, we did a couple of jumps and I introduced her to holding the dumbbell.
More decoy work for me...observing and reading dogs, and some agitation and short bites with a pit bull.

Best tracking in a long time. First trip back to the large field near my house in weeks, as ants had run us off. Manage to avoid most of them.
Three 50m legs, two hard right-angled corners, three articles, steps 6" apart, baited every fifth step (except for the last half of the last leg where the second article was; no bait for last 25m).
Sadie was solid on the scent pad, then tracked slowly and methodically. She found ants on the third bait, dropped it a couple of times to shake the ants and scratch her muzzle, then proceeded to nail the rest of the exercise. I was worried that right off she would lose her drive to the ants, but she wasn't phased at all, and in the end I was tickled by her solution to the problem.
The corners weren't hard enough, as she didn't even have to check to the sides, and her article work was a beautiful thing to behold

It is very hot again. Play on fetch and out at the beach, wanted to go swiming but the water is so low that 50 feet in Harley only had water mid belly!
The water was kind of warm too, so the game was not long. Got very nice position changes and heel in shallow water
Dexter got to walk in water up to mid leg but he does not look too thrill to get wet but getting braver

This after noon i totally bummed a friend`s pool.
Harley now is very good with going in and out of the pool and was very happy to play fetch, good out too. He even jumped from the side a few times.
Dexter has no interest in the water. But he is facinated by the BF swiming. He did a lot of following around the pool as the BF spent most of the after noon in the pool.
Both were on best behaviour. Repested the not on the deck rule so my friend dog (older dog aggressive) would be happy in the house. She loves the AC but a dog in the door will set her off. So the deck is off limit.
Now I have 2 sleeping dogs

What a great day!
One of my favorite things is to be on the way home in the car with dogs who are passed out from their active afternoon.

Today I worked with cody and bindi. My Husband built a small dog walk for the dogs play yard. So today, I took Cody and walked him up and down it. He enjoyed it and got a real kick doing it. I also practiced heeling with him, sit, wait, come, and "go touch" for Treball. (I think that is how you spell it.) He is doing really well with "go touch" and really sends the ball a good distance.
Bindi worked on stand, sit and down from a distance, heel, turns, touch, and we walked the dog walk a couple of times. Tonight we are going to do some more work on Rally O.
Not working terra today.

Nosework today!
Harley was wild at first and was more just running around then sniffing for the target but after 2 run he setle in.
Is indication is getting solid. He is a bit confused when I hide the target on a person, he knows it is there but not sure if he should jump, bark or lay down. I still ask the person to stand still.
Some very good fast ob rewarded by chasing a tug
