Some nosework, the bf hide the traget so I have no clue where it is and he can be very creative. Harley is quiet hard to beat at this game. Hide were the top of the propane tank, an old wood pile, under the seat of the tractor, in the tall grass in a paddock and on him
The some ob during a long night walk. Tonight distraction was a very small barking and leaping chi mix. Owner did the whole CM stuff and no results and finally said that we are lucky to have low energy dogs. Dexter maybe, Harley low energy not so much.
Dexter ob suck, guess I should do more with him so the bf can have some fun. Both are not good with disciple, they much prefer love and cuddles.

Back to the same tracking field as yesterday. Wind was easy to read, and handling was better. Sadie was stellar.
There were ants in a couple of spots. She stopped once to roll and scratch after getting bit, but her nose was deep again before she was upright. She's a real trooper and not easily deterred. This is a relief to me because I know at least one dog that quit tracking for months after a single run-in with ants.
Have had three 15min off-leash training sessions since yesterday morning. Concentrating on focus in the fuss, heeling position, and sit-in-motion. Trying to make more eye contact with her in order to improve her focus and engagement.

today we met raccons, use them as distraction for a short up beat training. Ok raccons are not distracting at all.
Tomorrow we should track, there was a young dog agility clinic at my neighbour's place and that mean a lot of traffick in the hay field. Some off leash pup ended up charging in my ring during a lesson. The coach gave them s**t, they get warned about the horses. My boys were good about staying on our side of the trees so recall work well.

Excellent tracking this morning.
Three tracks from Patterson. The plan calls for removing the bait gradually, starting with the third track.
Third track had no bait on the pad, and very little bait on the track. Bait patches after each turn; no bait on the last leg. Sadie had a deep nose, was well-engaged, thorough and methodical. She didn't stay on the unbaited pad long, but she did take scent and start the track properly.
Handling was much improved.

Did some nosework and distance position changes this morning, all very good, ok a bit exuberant nosework.
Harley was a bit bouncy so I decided to set a track for him between lessons. The weather channel said NO RAIN. At the start of the track there was rolling thunder and very little clouds. Harley is working well, not to mention that after the week end dog workchop their is a million dog s**t in the hay field. By the middle of the track came a crazy heavy down pour! It lasted at the most 5 min but I was soaked to the bones. Well Harley did quit on that. He did track in some light rain in the past but that was just too much.
I will set an other track before dinner as no rain is on the forcast, if there is no cloud

Excellent night at the club.
Sadie has made a lot of progress in the desensitizing work, so she is much more relaxed on the training field. I never thought I would say this, but she was the least reactive dog on the field tonight.
She has finally gotten to the point where we can work on the long down with another dog working on the field. Until recently (and even now when she's restrained), she would break her down when another dog went up in drive. I downed her off-leash, and while the other dogs worked, I increased the distance between us, returning to her and rewarding before adding another five feet. I got to 30m and turned my back to her, and she remained focused on me.
In the OB, her "look" and "fuss" were much improved. Focus and engagement were spot-on. We also did some wall and jumps. She will not need them for the BH, but she loves obstacles, so they allow her to release some energy while having a little fun. They're also great for her confidence, as if she needs any help with that.
I did some more helper training. Revier and short bites with two dogs; Round 2 with The Beast, who can't take me down if I'm not running, and a huge (130# at least) Rottie. Observed as two 6mo GSDs did their first sessions in prey drive... a little light tugging with lots of misses and teasing and chasing.

Today had all three dogs out in the am hours. Took Bindi to a parking lot and took her for a walk. We worked on heel, and backward heel, and turns and fast heeling, slow heeling, normal heeling. Her engagement in the new place was much better. She is getting used to working in new areas. We also ran and had fun. She is a great dog, with a great heart.
walked Terra at a shopping center. She was amazing. She has decided it is worth it to not fear obstacles anymore and approached them and checked them out. Very proud of her! (She isn't afraid of people unless they have something in their hand raised up.) Ignored dogs barking, had excellent engagement. Practiced her "next to me" and a little heeling. Terra did very well and when she got out of position she remembered and put herself back in. Everyone who sees her remarks how happy she is. She is quite a cute girl, very hyper and loves to work.
Cody did well today too. There were men working at a distance at the park, and he watched them for a few minutes and then focused on me and heeled really well. I used the long line and when he ran off, did some recall. He runs like a little bullet. We had a great time!
Tomorrow I have a meeting and plan on taking bindi with me. Taking her mat with me too and having her wait there while I get things done. She will be exposed to other people moving around and since she is very social this will be a very hard test for her.
Well, that it is. Today it was so very hot. At 8:45 it was about 85- almost 90! So we didn't do much. Tomorrow I will have the dogs on the treadmill and run around in the back yard with their homemade agility equipment. We have a tunnel, a dog walk, and a table. They enjoy playing with them and then we play outside for awhile.
Great to hear your dogs are doing well. I like the way you describe what they do, I can almost see it. sharon

Tracking was excellent again. Repeated the same tracks we did on Tue. We are both improving every time out.
The third scent pad was unbaited. She didn't spend any time on it, but I fault me; I should have taken a break to lapse her concentration before going to the third track, then "made" her take scent (IMO, of course). There is also a glitch with the articles, but I have a clear plan as to how to approach that hurdle.
I'm getting a new perspective on giving corrections on the track, and also a deeper appreciation of what the dog and the handler consider a correction. Sounds like such a harsh word, doesn't it?

one quick ob session.
Ball in my pocket for reward at the end. Sit, heel, down, down in motion, come. Dexter provided the distraction of nosing at the ball and being at random places. Yes I felt bad when I steped back right on him. Harley is getting better at back ward heel but is a bit puzzled at me ending on my butt and Dexter darting away.
Still can't find any good motivating activity for Dexter other then sleeping and going for a walk. Ants got him off tracking, nosework is too much work. I just want him to smell the target then mark and reward. But no he is not interested. He is interested in the reward but not enough to do something for it. He will nose at me for a reward. I won't give him any unless he does offer something of it. Still he rather walk away and go sleep.
