Well this morning the DOWN is back. As in I say down and Harley fold his leg and drop on the ground with a tump!

Tonight working on engagement with bindi. She did really well at obedience training last night at dog school. Reviewing it tonight with her, then we are going to work on heel and front, and finishes. (not all together. Bindi is starting to anticipate what she thinks I want her to do, so I have to mix it up a bit) Pivots on mark. Down/wait with me standing over her, or behind her. this is hard for her.
Cody- heel, learning to stand. Does really well on pivot on his mark. Go touch-punching a large ball with his snoot.
Terra- heeling. She has no idea. using the mark to position her and have her stand next to me. Also, heeling by taking one or two steps and have her stick like glue to me. She has great engagement, just very hyper.
It has been so hot here we can't do much. Having an extreme heat wave. 110 in the shade day. Last night at 10:30 it was 90. So, we get up very early to walk and then that is about the extent of our exercise. Hope all of you are keeping cool.
Love how you describe Harley hitting the ground with a thump!

tonight we are working on kick back stands with Bindi and cody. front and finishes (separately). Today it is still very hot. We are well over 100 each day, sometimes 110.
Tonight I am not sure what the temp is right now, at 5:30 it was 100. We walked today, did recall with Bindi on long line, heel, and running and playing. Tonight we will play the leg game. When Bindi stands, she does not do a kick back stand, she just stands. I am hoping to change that. Bindi still does not line up straight every time she does a front. I am trying to tweek her a little, by having her touch me with her nose when she comes front.. hoping that corrects the crooked sit in front of me. Even when I guide her she leans to one side. So, we will work on that as well.
My Cody is like Harley, he is quick and wants me to be quick too.
Great to hear what is going on. sharon

Tracking was better this morning. I think (hope) that I have found a balance in her pre-training feedings. I also moved back up on the line. This seems to help push her a little, but I still need to make significant progress moving back on the line and reducing bait on the track.
After reading some posts yesterday, I realized that I needed to solidify her position on the "come". I don't use "front"; "come" has a specific requirement for the front position. Worked on this last night and she did great.

did some nosework. I am getting better at hideing the target but Harley is also getting better at finding it.
Got nice duo ob for a banana. Dexter did try to catch some banana mid air but missed. Poor boy at least Harley did not try to steal it.

New to the boards!
My wife and I have three bullies (2 sibling APBTs, and an Alapaha). I'm responsible for "pack" activities, and the training of the siblings, named Milo and Mabel. My wife is responsible for the Alapaha named Bella.
Our normal morning routine is a pack walk, and a prolonged down stay in the garage while I work out. Then they get some pack free time in the yard while I supervise manners and intensity.
Their evening routine is coming to work with me (I own a martial arts academy), and they are either in a boundary hold (stay behind the front desk), or in a down stay on the edge of the mats.
So.. that's their normal day. I really try to get some "work' in with them daily.
Today was Recalls with distractions. Took them out individually on a long line and dismissed them to run through the gym and get visit students, and I worked recalls against that distraction. First just light interactions, but eventually had the students play with them and get them going and I recalled away from that. I did have the students freeze when I called to help my guys make the right choice. They did great! Never had to touch the line.
And, that's their first session of recall with any real distraction.
I'm excited to keep posting! Looking forward to all the input. I still have a ton to learn!
This web board is GREAT!

Good night at the club...
Impending weather kept most of the members away. It was just me and Sadie, TD, and one other couple with a Rottie that also needs to get a BH. We worked both dogs on elements of the BH, with one dog in a long down while the other did its' OB routine.
We introduced both dogs to gunfire. Sadie did react, but she didn't break. I had to correct for lapse in concentration on two of three attempts. She heeled through a crowd, then I downed her and had the crowd put the squeeze on. These exercises were excellent.
These two dogs end up working in proximity to one another often, even when everyone is at the club. For that reason, and because of the good work they did tonight and some further tandem training that we have already planned, we have decided to be training partners. Both dogs are reactive, and both have a lot of work to do to get a BH at our trial in late October. We are thinking that maybe we could get paired up for the BH at trial, and that it might help since they have experience working together. Is there any reason why this would not be a good idea?
