The new pup, Silky Lad, pushing 40 lbs and still all baby teeth, worked on herding ducks.

Today got all busy, and couldn't get to everyone. Bella got to work her office perimeter, and holding a down during kickboxing. Everyone else just had their normal daily structure.
Jax is still recovering.
There was an incident earlier, that showed me where my recalls are at. An animal went past the fence, and got everyone wound up. Milo busted through the chain link gate, and was followed by Mabel and Bella. Boo. Bella recalled instantly, Mabel took a second, but did come back. Milo turned and looked when he heard us..... and just kept trucking. I had to go after him. Of course, when he heard me stomping after him, he of course turned and came back to me. Now I didn't punish him because he did "come to me" and I know you're not supposed to do that. But I can't help but think that little shit is smart enough to have that figured out. Well, maybe that's reaching.

TOday I was in a meeting most of the day. However, tonight I worked with Cody. We reviewed touch, go touch, heel, mark, mat, sit, down, and I am trying to teach him the place command (where he will come and lay down between my feet as I stand. He is doing well, haven't named it yet. He also practiced through. (jumping through a hula hoop)
Today was 100 and we had a storm, rain, lightning and thunder. We didn't go out much.
Will work with bindi when the other dogs are in bed. Tomorrow will do more with them.
TOnight I plan on working on Bindi with hand signals, recalls in the house, hand signals from distance, down, sit, stand, come. Front, finish, and left finish or heel position. She enjoys that. Will try and play with her. She is learning how to play with toys right now.
Tomorrow going to take cody to Petsmart and introduce him to any male checkers. I am beginning to work on his fear of men. First we will just pass by. Then depending on how that goes, we may linger as I feed him treats, then one day they can pet him as I feed him treats. Will see how that goes. It will be a long process.
Great to hear of all your adventures.
Jay, I think dogs know what they have done wrong, if the know the behavior you want from them. But it is so hard to resist when instinct kicks in. It's good you got a peak into the weak areas of your recall. Now you can go back to the long line and find more distractions like that and work through them. In no time I bet they do much better. Recall is so important. Not coming could be life threatening.

Not a ton of work today.
Took Jax to the Academy. Really only got to work on holding the office perimeter with him. The rest of the effort was mostly pack management work. Teaching him that being loose in the office doesn't imply permission to play. Doesn't seem like much but, keeping three young pits from playing while in a 10x10 front desk area takes a scosh of effort!
Other than that. Not much dog work in.

Got Harley on the new smell again. He was perfect, quick to find and solid indication. Even in the barn with all the fun distractions.
Dexter is still on 3 legs and had NO interest in the game of nosework
Then some crazy fetch in the yard. The neighbour is having a young dog agility clinic. so lots of new dog walking in the hay field and lots of excited dogs sound all day. Harley so want me to take him there.

Today was Weight Pull day!!!!
Well, for everyone except poor Jax. He's still recovering from his "fixing".
Bell, Milo, and Mabel all worked Weight Pull, and everyone did great!
Jax did some long line attention training.
Then we did a rotation of restrained recalls with everyone.
It was Jax's first time and he did awesome! Everyone else "has" a recall already..... but my little emergency the other day indicated the need to back it up and start over.

Ventured out for the tracking for the first time in 7 days.
Hurricane Isaac has forced billions of ants to relocate, and of course, some of the highest, driest, lush fields are my favorite tracking fields. Add the shifting 15 mph winds and huge debris fields, and tracking was just okay.
Because we have not done much for the last week, and also because of all the ditractions and adventures this week. I decided to keep it simple. Left the articles at home. Sadie and I both tried to track solidly, but it was difficult, and near the end I just wanted to get through it, have a big party, and try again tomorrow.

today I did nosework with the 2 target smells. I hide 4 targets around the barn and barn yard, then send Harley out to "find it".
Rock solid indications on all targets even the new smell was no challenge for him.
Dexter's paw is much better.
Not much time for any thing I have to go pick up a new project horse (OTTB) and lessons to give before
