I just started using the cuz toy and Gabbi manages to disable the squeaker in 10 minutes or so. This is with the medium and large ones. She still likes chomping on them and honestly I like them better silent. I video taped them playing with brand new ones and play it in dispatch to drive my co workers and the visiting K9's crazy. My neighbors must love it. I say it's like giving a child a drum set for Christmas.

Empty 1 gallon plastic water jugs. My GSD pup couldn't get his small mouth on it but would push it around trying; now his mouth is big enough to bite and crush it which he enjoys.
He'll chase and retrieve anything that gets thrown. I'll stand in the middle of the yard and throw one toy in one direction, he'll get it, run back to me and drop it as I throw another toy in the opposite direction. So each toy gets dropped almost at my feet in time to pick it up before he gets back and throw it again; sounds just like the game David plays - great exercise for the pup and I get to almost stand still.
Balls, doggie rubber tires, squeaky rubber trolls (maybe they're porcupines cause they have spikes like Kevin's toy), frisbees, the Romp N Roll ball that he shakes by the rope and gets the ball hitting his sides http://www.leerburg.com/730.htm , old dish rags, his leather tug, canvas tugs, including the orbee on a string but he likes to rip off the rubber designs on the surface.
Love Trevor's idea of bubbles. No ill effects from the soap? Would love to do that, I'll pick some up today.

... and of course sticks are always a favourite too.
Um, I mentioned sticks in one of the early posts in this thread and was duly chastened and warned by others who had personal experiences with dogs getting injured by sticks. Do you have any "safe play" rules for sticks with your dogs?

Anita...
I don't allow my dogs to play with sticks either, since my GSD had one stuck across the top of her mouth, lodged between her teeth...NOT fun!
However, I do have a huge old maple tree that drops sticks like mad. I've found that a reliable "drop it" command and removal of the stick is all I can do, along giving them other toys to distract them from sticks.

Playing with sticks is extremly dangerous. Your dog only has to pick a stick up by the end and run with it. The stick turns into a SPEAR.
I also am not a fan of toys with squeekers - some dogs become obsessive and when they chew the squeeker out - too often it goes into the dogs stomach.
Get one of our Orbee balls or Ore Konds - they are softer they float and they dont get chewed up - they are the coolest thing I have found http://leerburg.com/788.htm

Be careful with anything made of plastic, like milk containers, juice jugs, etc. the lids often end up in the dogs digestive tract. If you must use them, take the lids off. My dog loves his blue orka.

What's a blue orka?

But haven't seen any problems with obsession in my pup, thankfully - he will carry it around sometimes and squeak it, but easily drops it without much thought to it. If he had or ever does become obsessed with it, it will be in the trash can right quick. I don't let him play with the squeakers or any toys without my supervision so nothing gets swallowed by accident, but it is definitely a concern if left unsupervised.
He does enjoy his Orbee balls, they bounce like crazy.

I think I'll give that one a try. The attraction of the empty plastic jugs (no tops, ever) is they're fun to push around my tile floor. But this toy looks like it'll do the same and be safer. Although I think my dog likes the noise as well as the movement (toy manufacturers, are you listening?).
