Zasha's registered name is: Zasha von Leerburg. She was a Z litter of Ed's. He was trying to think of z names & I sent him a bunch of suggestions & told him that I really liked Zasha for my pup's name. So he registered my pup with that name. Something he didn't usually do. A BIG thanks to Ed for that. Zasha is a Russian name that means ‘defender of the people’. She does some nice ‘work’ in that area for me.
Bodie's registered name is: Bodacious von Joneshaus. Named after the infamous PBR bull of the same name. Bodacious means remarkable or noteworthy which he is in a number of ways.
That's cool how some names are based off of the reg name.
My Sport was ILP registered as a Flat Coated Retriever, her AKC name was "Mordor's Black Rider". I was going to UKC reg Logan (but didn't get his pedigree in time before UKC changed their rules). I was going to name him "Distant Early Warning" which was actually going to be Ali's name but she died.
Are you a Rush fan? I like the name, even if you're not
I've been a Rush fan since 2112. I'm a musician, so it's kind of a given, especially growing up in the era of Limelight, Red Barchetta and Tom Sawyer.
Sorry for the derail.
Dog names:
Hart - rescued Samoyed, given to the wife on Valentine's Day.
Gunner - hunting chocolate Lab. It took us a week to name him, but it really fit. He was named for Gunner Nelson, a guitar player I met in Kalamazoo Michigan, and son of Ricky Nelson.
Freya - Mastiff - named after the Norse goddess of love, beauty and war.
Pud (short for puddles) - male pit / lab mix. He came with the name, and we couldn't bring ourselves to change it. You ask people if they want to meet Puddles, and they think you are going to bring out a little Pom or something. The look on their face when a 90 pound pitX comes racing around the corner is priceless.
The rest have all been names that fit. I really want a male Dane named Bob. Some day.
Yes both! Been a major Rush fan since Vapor Trails. You??
Rush fan since Permanent Waves. 2112 is my favorite (especially Something for Nothing). Moving Pictures, 1981, was my first Rush concert, Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans.
Read "The Hobbit", then the trilogy in 1982.
That's it... 2112 in the cd player going to work in the morning.
Chief (male W/L GSD) is named after the hunter's old dog in Fox and the Hound. Loved the movie when I was little, and always thought Chief was a great dog with a bad rap since he belonged to the bad guy. Just a good, loyal, hard working dog.
Also I recently found out my Great Grandpa used to breed and show horses, and his favorite stud horse was named Chief. No idea what kind of horse he was, but I always love a good family throwback.
ETA: Ha! Just caught the implication that I'm a bad guy with a good dog. Never thought about that.
