From the site - Therefore this diet is high-carb, high-fat, low-protein.
Not gonna work here... I eat at least half again as much protein that is recommended by all those nutrition charts and a good percentage is animal protein. It's what works for me. I actually would love to go a bit lower with animal protein (it's expensive!!) But I back off on it and within a couple days I can feel it.
The Metabolic Typing Diet book explains why one diet works for one type and reeks havoc on another type...and all that, even as to why we have our individual food preferences.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Oh no Joe! Not your pumpkin spice!
The Wai diet goes on about olive oil in OJ.
With raw egg yolks GHASTLY!
Not like apples and cinnamon. Or butter and good bread.
Or cheeseburgers........mmmmm.......
Connie I had no other allergies that showed up on the test. I rigidly eliminated eggs and milk from my diet for the first 6 weeks. I felt worlds better and shed 8 lbs. I have adopted Dr. Joel Furhman's "Eat to Live" eating plan. I do not follow it religiously but it is a good general guidline for me. I do not have a severe allergy.
I have read labels and am horrified by what is in our foods. I eat lots of vegtables, fruits, and beans. I minimize meat consumption of any kind. If I slip up and eat a lot of meat or dairy I start feeling yucky. I like some cheese, but I never even missed the eggs. Just by eating fresh produce, it is easier to change your diet. If you can't find fresh, try frozen as most frozen foods are flash frozen and no additives. I like to cook up a pot of either black or pinto beans each week. They make a delicious side dish, soup, or main dish.
My advice is to set a goal of 6 weeks to be strict about what you eat and go from there. When you eliminate those foods from your diet for that length of time, your taste buds change and they almost taste overpowering if you do try some after that. Also, changing your mindset from "I can't have", to "I can have" is a lot easier and you will discover many new favorites.

Yes, I changed my diet years ago too: vegetarian, lots of pulses and legumes and produce, etc., etc. Almost no wheat. Serious label-reader. No "white foods." (I'm a nutrition researcher. lol)
Fuhrman's books and articles are among the best (IMO) and most sensible (IMO) I've seen.
But I was still drinking fat-free milk.
I like the 6-week idea, Christi. I think I will eliminate milk/dairy completely (and also the last traces of wheat) for 6 weeks and see what happens.

OK, I feel inspired by you guys. Even though I know much better, I keep wanting everything to be 100% fixed on Day Two. I think I expected too much too fast because I did see significant results on Day One.
Now I will keep a log and plan to reassess at two weeks and six weeks.
