Yeah ace is basically an anti-psychotic (aka major tranquilizer). He is on tramadol and rimadyl for pain. He stopped crying after the tramadol kicked in. Now it probably is mostly itchy...but I will put something on it, but not on the incision.
Betty, its ok to clean it with betadine right?
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Connie he is doing ok, he's sick of being crated but I take him for very short leash walks often and sit with him.
Betty I saw he had debri stuck on there from where he sat in the yard today. I did clean it off, I used a wet cloth then betadine. Very gently, I didn't want to leave it dirty like that because of infection. He was very good about it...the razor burn looks awful but I left that alone, too sore to keep messing with it. Poor baby.
As far as the ace goes, he handles it very well. Ive seen some act all doped but suddenly snap put of it and act crazy...and with others it seems to make them restless. Interestingly similar drugs do that with people too.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
In our practice, eventually we only clipped the 2 " area where the incision was actually made, along the shaft of the penis.
I think it's not so much ciipper "burn" as it is stubble rubbing adjacent areas. Normally those areas in contact with each other are protected by the finest downy fur.
He's definitely feeling better...needed more ace today.
The incision looks better, the swelling has gone down and he wanted to run...right when I let him out this morning, I had him on leash and he jumped up at me and snapped his teeth shut by my shoulder....yep, that's my baby. LOL
I'll be glad when things are back to normal and I can run him instead of drug him.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
