I didn't use believe in fear periods either. Pup never got them at the 10 week old mark. Then at 4 months his hackles started to rise when we pass by people. Nothing alarming, but hackles rose, and he seemed more suspicious of people than usual. It went away even though we've been doing nothing special at 5 months. I think there ARE 'fear periods', but they're not particularly troublesome, i.e. a confident dog suddenly starts running the other way when you meet other dogs. I think it's more of a dog growing up and starting to question the world around him, rather than suddenly developing fears.

Maybe I am stupid, but I don't have to many concerns about the fear period, mostly because everything will be done with one of the other dogs in tow. By this I mean training, and going to new places.
