My 5 1/2 month old Dobie lost all of his baby teeth except the two upper canines and they are not loose. The two adult upper canines are fully in. I have heard been told by several dog owner friends to let nature take its course and do not let the vet pull the two upper canines?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
My female had the same thing happen...they eventually loosened & fell out or she knocked them out chewing on a stick or something...she always had something in her mouth.....can't remember what it was. . But nature did run its course on its own time schedule. And it didn't effect the position of her permanent teeth at all.
Anne, Zasha's teeth probably came flying out due to shear speed , Laura, my female had a canine that hung around awhile and the vet told me not to worry about it, it finally fell out, if you're worried, give your vet a call and good luck with your dobe, ,
AL
I recently had the same problem with my male pup but it was the bottom two incisors, the answer is Bones and more Bones big calf size ones are ideal, they eventually came out with the chewing,(oh and two hosepipes later to go with as a entree of course)throw in one or two geraniums for desert while you at it (just kidding) hope your dog is better behaved! If they are not out in the next 3 mnths after intensive Bone chewing, then you may have to take a trip to the vet and he may have to remove them, they will sedate first of course thats the last resort.
We had the same problem with our GSD. I think on e top canine was still hanging on at seven months. I let him play with a large jolly ball which finally got it out but I think that has contributed to him having a mouthy grip.
Yes, AL, you're probably right. I should have named her Z-O-O-O-O-M......She doesn't know how to do ANYTHING slowly ,as you well know.
