I am going to recieve an 8 week old puppy in July. I was wondering what the difference between Chicken Soup For The Puppy Lover's Soul and Eukanuba or any other premium brand like that. Is Raw really the best way to go? Do any of you know of a website that gives you a meal plan for a puppy? Sorry for so many questions butI am so confused

Most would agree (here anyway) that raw is definitely best. If you will not feed raw, please at least feed an all-natural premade food. Chicken Soup is a good food; however, with Diamond's vomitoxin problems (do a search for Diamond food recall), I'd still avoid anything made by them for a while. Try Innova Evo; it's a raw in kibble form (so it's not totally raw, but still has bone, cartilage, organs, etc.). It is rich, so don't give up after a few days of loose stools. If it's a big problem, add pumpkin, and that should help immensely. I think puppyhood is such a crucial time, if you're ever going to make the commitment to raw, now's the time. Good luck and enjoy your pup.
Meal plans are available on this site, actually.

One member here switched her giant breed puppy from kibble to raw all with the help of this site, against the advice of her breeder, who now acknowledges that the puppy the breeder kept is chubby and has a much less beautiful coat. I know that's a one-person anecdote, but I wanted to start on a really "up" note.
If you decide to go raw, this site can give you every piece of info needed. If you want to ease into it, then you can get The Honest Kitchen, which I found out about here (and buy here). It's raw, and it's dehydrated at low temps rather than cooked at high temps (like kibble).
You rehydrate it for ten minutes (or more) at serving time.
Since it's not kibble (which takes up to 20 hours to got from one end of a dog to the other), you can add raw items to it, because they digest similarly quickly.
OR, if you read these Q&As, which cover how to start, how to measure, what a meal looks like, and everything else, you might decide that raw is easy (it is) and you're going to do it. If you do,

If you feel a little skittish and want to study a little, then why not think about what I think is a nice alternative to raw: The Honest Kitchen. I like the two no-grain options (Embark and Force).
I add in RMBs when I use it (as backup to my usual raw), and I know other forum members who have a varied list of add-ins.

Also, click "search," upper right screen, and use the search words "barf" or "raw" and get a TON of info!
And since you have a while to decide, why not order a Billinghurst book (the latest has good updated supplememnt info), too?
Good luck.

I just picked up a new puppy last week. I did a lot of research on the best kibble and I decided to feed him Nature's Variety Prairie. They also have a grain free version and frozen raw packages. So far so good! Here is there site: http://www.naturesvariety.com/content.lasso?page=1305
