My 8 month puppy started itching & has white flakes on her coat. She's not loosing any fur, and her coat is glossy & thick, she is brushed nearly everyday. We feed her a natural raw diet and give nutritional supplements.
The vet suggested she could have dry skin caused by indoor heat, so we increased her fish oils and indoor humidity. She got a bit better and then she went into her first heat cycle and the itching & flakes started again. She is itchy on her sides, elbow, shoulder, & if you scratch her along the spinal area, she gets real ticklish. Paws, face,ears are clear and not itchy.
We went to the vet again and now suspect food allergies, hormonal, and considering reaction to frontline.
Appreciate any suggestions and hearing from anyone with similar experiences.
