Hi everyone - my sister's lab has been having some heath issues it seems, and her vet can't seem to find anything wrong with him. I thought I'd check around and see if anyone had any advice to offer.
3.5 y.o. male, excellent condition up until about 4 months ago. He has been lethargic (this comes and goes), has lost about 7 lbs over several months(on Solid Gold), and leg stiffness at times. He has been to the vet 3 times for these symptoms, and nothing was found. Last night he apparently started having muscle spasms that lasted for about 5 hours, accompanied by dialated eyes and excessive sniffing.
The vet has done bloodwork (twice), and a neurological exam. Temp normal, bloodwork normal, no vomiting, diarrhea, and eating well.
Recollect that the Almighty, who gave the dog to be companion of our pleasures and our toils, hath invested him with a nature noble and incapable of deceit.
Jessica, Was he having the same problems before being put on solid gold?Also..Does he have access to drinking water where any type of bird..has placed poop..lol in the water? Does he in eat/ingest..any type of fish in a nearby water source? Whether he is in training or not for retrieval..What type of birds..has he had in his mouth..dead or alive?
Jessica, has the dog been worked up for Lyme disease? It really can manifest with various symptoms, that can come and go. I'm not sure if the titer is always positive even if the animal is infected. Usually treated with Doxycycline antibiotic. Just a thought. Good Luck with the dog!
