Is this female puppy too heavy? She is 8 months old she weighs in about 65-70lbs, I was thinking she would weigh that full grown.
She is tall for a pup, taller then 4yr old female Rottie/pit who is over weight (she's has been spayed) and is still pretty athletic.
Back to the GSD pup she is still as fast as a whip and jumping all over the place when she is happy or doing bite work. To the touch she seems solid, muscular, and toned. Her coats shinning and teeth are clean and strong.
She has been on adult dog food since 6 months. She not fat at one point some thought she was too skinny. Is it her height thats making her weigh this much. Should I be concern with this growth affecting her hips down the road?
GSD females are 19-22 inches tall, she probably that tall now. What can I do and keep her looking fit?
Feel her side, you should be able to feel ribs when lightly pressing on her and rubbing with your fingertips(handled like an egg) not when you have to put hard pressure to find them. When viewed from above is there a clearly defined waist? Tuck up defined and visable? etc.
I don't worry about what the numbers on the scale say- I go on looks and feel.
