My GSD has major health problems also. I have battled poor health and dull coat for the two years of his life. What has helped tremendously is goat milk. He has done a complete turn around and his health has never been better. The goat milk has smaller molecules so it can be absorbed and digested better. I also think it helps add weight (not fat). You can get it at the grocery store in cans by the evaporated milk. Meyenburg is the brand i beleive. Some stores have it in cartons by the milk in the dairy section. It is worth a try. Oh and the thyroid meds won't start making a noticable change until 2-4 weeks after starting. I had a male that was hypothyroid. I tried all of the fish/salmon/omege acids and got te best result with the milk. good luck.
Thanks for the advice. Kane has put on a little weight since I have increased his food, but his yeast infection isnt gone yet. I had to stop bathing him with the medicated shampoo for a couple of weeks due to our bathroom with the tub was out of service. And there was no way I was getting him in the bathroom with just the shower. I am now back to bathing him every other day and I hope I see a difference soon. He is so crusted with waxy scales under his legs. He will go back to the vet in a couple of weeks for a follow up. Is the Thyroid meds supposed to help clear up the yeast? Or does it just help the thyroid without noticing a difference? Do you give the goats milk with meals or separate? And how much do you give?
One more question... I have heard ofall these suppliments and different vitamins etc. Where can I buy them locally? Are they the same vitamins at local drug stores for humans? Or do I have to buy them online?
