I understand.I believe I am guilty of jumping the gun.I have not alternated the reward phase enough while training and he picks up when its (training time) and when he will get a reward or not.I also have mixed in the silent recall w/the come and vibrate.I am guilty of trying to train too much in 1 session and he knows when this is happening so its not the collar....its the event.thanks for your input everyone
If he is collar wise, the e-collar should be worn in conjunction with another collar, i.e; e-collar & a fur saver. Everytime the e-collar goes on so does the fur saver, when the e-collar comes off, so does the fur saver. Over time the dog equates the fur saver with the electric & doesn't know the difference.
that IS a good idea john!! my sister competes her labs in field trials and i asked her trainer once what he does to prevent the dogs from becoming collar-wise (they have to compete with NO collar once they reach a certain level of competition) and i just got some smart-a## reply. i'd still like to know...of course, some of the Master's dogs WILL cheat on a retrieve...
anyway, just goes to show i can learn something new even on a tuesday!!!
