So today I was dividing up a can of Canidae chicken and rice I picked up last week and as I was running the knife through it I hit a chunk. This chunk turned out to be a large nugget of field corn. I found a few others in the same can and I must admit I was a little baffled. I went through the rest of this can and found 4 more bits that were definately corn. :-/
So for the rest of you who feed canidae canned please contact the company if you run across this because even if it is just corn it indicates a lack of control over production which is worrying enough that I'll be returning the rest of the case.
It was Canidae canned Chicken and Rice batch number 1113801820 with an exp of 2013.
Funny you should mention this- last week I opened a can of Evengers canned food, chicken/liver, and there was a chunk of carrot in there.... On the canidae front, I see again, the latest bag of dry is very crumbly. I may have to change foods, if they keep raising the price, and not addressing quality.

I had been very happy w/ Canidae, but within the past 6 weeks or so my pup had started biting at the base of her tail. I switched her to Innova (regular) in the morning and Evo in the evening, (trying to mitigate the cost of the Evo), and within a few days of switching the itchiness went away.
I too wonder if Canidae is having some quality control issues.
Hi Lynne,
That is a worry for me also because I feed Canidae kibble. Nickie and Roxie have been scratching a tiny bit more than usual but I attributed it to the terrible pollen problem that we have this time of year in Las Vegas. Nickie is on Hydroxyzine for his allergies but not Roxie. Then I thought maybe it was because of their yearly bath that they both received a week ago (possibly dry skin??).
We have been very fortunate to find a source for Canidae at a boarding/groomer place near us. The woman who owns the place sells the Canidae for $32 for 40 lbs - she said she tries to keep the cost low in order to encourage people to try it - she also knows what junk the grocery stores and vet offices sell!
