I just recently ordered an elecronic collar, and while searching for information on the subject found this great site. I have ordered the Leerburg DVD on electronic collar training and am pacing the floor eagerly to get it. I should have both the collar and the DVD by the weekend. I'm sure the DVD will answer this question, but I've read that the collar should be regularly put on and taken off multiple times per day for a couple of weeks... does this mean no training with the remote collar for that time? I sort of hope not, because I really want to get started sooner rather than later. My GSD pup is 5 1/2 months old now, and while he's not too bad with most basics, he obeys when he wants to and not when he doesn't.
