I wasn't sure which topic this would fit under so I thought I'd start here! I am wondering if there is something I can feed my dog or put on the grass that can prevent the grass from dying where he pees. I saw an advertisement somewhere for a supplement dogs can have but I want to make sure it is something natural and healthy for my dog and my lawn. Any suggestions? My dog is on a raw diet already so I don't want to start adding artificial stuff to his diet. Even if you know what specifically causes the grass to turn yellow I can maybe think of something.
Thanks a lot!!

In my case, I made my yard home to a family of cute lil moles. Now you can barely tell the brown grass spots are there between the mole hills.
Boy, isn't that the truth. I have gopher "eruptions" all over my yard.
Melanie, I'll be happy to trap all of mine and ship them to you...Free! New protein source for your raw diet! Excellent working earth dog training! Adds visual interest to your landscaping! You'll never think about brown spots again. Sounds great, doesn't it?

Hehehehe.
We used to water the area where the family Alsatian would pee to avoid 'burns' on the carpet grass. We have to do it immediately or else the grass would just turn a burnished gold.
What I have done with my current German Shepherd is train her to relieve herself in a specific area. I built a 4 by 4 ft area and put pine shavings on there. I scoop the shavings several times a day, and clean & disinfect the platform once a week.
Great garden saver. And makes for easy clean-up too.

I've seen this product on websites in NZ, haven't tried it but the description sounds interesting. There's also an article on this site that gives you different options.
I'm quite partial to teaching our dog to pee on the bit beside our path that is just rocks. He does it sometimes anyway, but at the moment he doesn't have his aim quite right to ensure it not getting on the path or fence.
