Interesting discovery the other night with the lil Huck Finn dog. 6 months old now, very smart, continuing to build his confidence and having fun in SchH.
Anyway, over all, this pup is coming a long very nicely, and has earned some free time in the house, staying off furniture, etc. He listens well and seems to stay tuned into me. Fun lil dog.
I went to put him in the crate for the night, and when I did, I bent down and inside to his crate, as I was going to "talk" and pet him g-night. HE GROWLED A BIG mean crazy growl! I did not move or change position, held my ground.
Now that I've discovered (kindof by accident) this side of Huck Finn (how often do any of you go sticking your head and arms on into the crate to pet the dog?) We've been doing this lil "exercise" when he enters the crate and before he exits. No more growling. In fact, showing even more respect in other areas. Maybe just the "newness" of this scenario threw him into this defense--ie: MY crate thinking?
Anyone ever "by accident" find out your dog has a problem with you?
