I wouldn't even try to top that (I don't think I could).
I would add one thing though. If you are going to create a good bond with your dog it is very important to know what the breed chacteristics are. Many things are the same for most breeds, but there differences and you need to be prepared for some of them. Some breeds will have a tendancy for handler aggression, other breeds are less likely to do this. When these types of behaviors show up will tend to show up is also chacteristic of the breed. Some of these chacteristics are also specific to certain lines. If you are not familiar with the breed, or the line, get some help from people that are. Maintain good communication with mentors familiar with the breed/line. Nobody knows it all, everybody learns something with every dog, and everybody needs help from time to time.
If you can't be a Good Example, then You'll just have to Serve as a Horrible Warning. Catherine Aird.
The only thing I will add is the role of a leader. If the dog only sees you as a buddy then the bond will never be strong. He must see you as his leader. Fair, strong and consistant are the traits of a true leader.
