Goodmorning Everyone: Question? My 17 month old White GS Luna
just started Howling at night. She is in her 13th day of her
second heat cycle ( she is to be spayed August 10th) She did not
howl during her last heat cycle and she seems to be more restless
this time around than before waking me up usually at 2 am to go
out.(converted my back porch to a dog kennel 8ft x 26 ft indoor
and 8ft x 13 ft outdoor)yard is than privacy fenced so no visitors of the 4 legged kind can get to her. I have not addressed the howling issue because this is the only time I have
heard her and I enjoy the howl, since I have 4 acreas I don't
think the neighbors hear much. Do you all think this is a heat
cycle issue or something else?
Regards
Betty
Betty, are you in an area with wolves or coyotes that are howling?
( I'm asking that because I live in a wolf rich area, and my dog has just started to howl in reply to their howls once in awhile, which is both awesome and creepy to watch at the same time ).
Will: I live in North Alabama: Yes we have coyotes, no wolves.
I didn't know coyotes howled, shame on me. I agree with you
about the sound being both creepy and awsome. For some strange
reason the sound is comforting. Luna has not howled the last
2 nights so Im not sure if its the heat cycle ending or no
one in a distance was calling.
