Hey Marilyn
It's all about being a good Pack Leader! The Pack Leader (YOU) is suppose to take care of the dogs in the pack. If your not willing to put the work in, for the safety of your pack, then mabey you shouldn't have so many dogs.
Well, maybe that's phrased a little harshly, but I agree 100% with the basic message.
I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt first and help the O.P. to completely change the way she lives with these dogs (which is what's desperately needed).
I am using the crates now, but only for short periods, they dont seem too stressed out about them, I made them cozy enclosures, just keeping them secluded for most of the day,(away from me) is working so far, I am also working on establishing my role as pack leader, it is a journey, but Sally seems to be responding , things are much calmer already in just two days of applying a few of the leerburg strategies
I understand that it is all in my hands, and that I need to take control of the situation and realise the error of my previous ways, crying over it does nothing, I need to apply some tough love
Boy am I glad I came across this website
just a few simple things are working already
yes Connie
you are totally right, I am not going to give up on my three dogs, I adopted them and I will take care of them, they are my responsibility and I have realised that some big changes absolutely need to be made.
like you said a complete different way of living with the three of them.
I am working on pack structure and not allowing them the freedom they had before, no couch/bed hopping and structured seperate walking times, and when I am watching TV or a movie they sit in there cozy crates, things are already looking better, my aim is peace in the home, and I need to produce that, mostly I have noticed that my dogs follow my lead and they want to do what I tell them
my previous atitude was that they are sentient beings that need love and affection and kisses and hugs and cuddling, however they are also dogs with instincts and pack tructures and I need to respect that.

I dont think that I have ever met someone in my whole entire life that completely knows what will happen to their pack structure when things change(like when one of them loses thier sight and needs extra care because of diabetes)
I have lived with my 'many' three dogs for 14yrs, and I dont intend on giving up on any one of them just because they are acting like dogs.
you obviously dont have the time or inclination to do the hard work of a little bit of encouragement or careful advise for your fellow dog people on this board, why do you partake on this board anyway, if you have nothing valuable to add, except a snide remark like that.
your harsh comments may mistakedly make you sound like someone who knows absolutely nothing about dogs
