One fourth of july we left Nico with my uncle while we all went to watch the fireworks.

she was HEAVILY medicated and he was under strict instructions not to let her out of the house.

We came back find him asleep on the patio table, the back door open and her hiding under a car.

Upon closer inspection we found my uncle to be a bloody mess and Nico terrified out of her wits.

He had decided to take her swimming with him, which is a horrible idea at any time, since she tries to swim on top of you.

This was 4th of July and right as they were walking down the walkway to the dock (about 6 feet off the water) the F-16s flew over and hit their afterburners. She panicked and knocked him off into a couple feet of water and then fell on top of him, gashing him all to hell and nearly drowning him.

The fireworks then started before he managed to get out of the water and he was further injured. He survived with minor injuries, but the truly could have drowned him in her panic.

Thank goodness he is now 6 yrs sober and has much better judgement!!!

I have had my shoulder torn, black eyes, bloody noses, a pretty bite wound on my elbow, busted lips, and more. All from my own dogs just playing or being idiots.

Never trust your inlaws when they say their St. Bernard is trained, but has to be taken to the vet to trim nails. Split lip, black eyes, and welts on my face. Hubby (who was laying on her to pin her down ... bad idea now that i think aobut it) got bit, bloodied, and black and blue from her and her side kick a chow chow named cookie. lol after that we both informed his dad he needs to take the dogs to the vet from now on for nail trims and hair cuts.

I have just to wait the fun I will get to play in when training pup to hunt.. the joys ... the pain.. wonder which will come first...lol

I have had my lip busted, chin banged, and nose popped from just goobering on Rose when she was excited to see me, not to mention two accidental tug bites that left scars when she was young. She's a like a Jack Russel in an 80 pound body. Not a question, a big dog with high drive/insane energy has potential to do SO much "accidental" damage.

Personally, the upside is that I would never have consumed so many books, visited message boards, nor learned from trainers without her. I've burned a lot of calories trying to understand this thing we call a "dog" just by being stubborn enough to keep her part of my life. And now that she's six and *almost* normal, it is incredibly gratifying.

LOL she is a BIG girl too probably close to 120 lbs at the time and she was still super active so she was pure muscle! She truly could have killed him in more ways than one that night.


I don't know that it was that the made him get sober, but I do think it was one of the catalysts!
