My dog was train by those three hugers, well I went there cause I was not able to get him to do much. So the training was to lure the dog in position with food, and give the food, then add a command, lure and give food, the remove hand gestre and so on. There was no marker and no use of NO or any praise. Just food reware, then cut food out when the dog is doing well.
Now I have a mugger and a hand chaser. He has very little drive, love to do a long down stay.
I am now taking him to a new place that don't use food reward but a lot of positive reinforcement and some correction when the behavior is well understood.
Can I use marker training for this dog or is the first school spoiled him.
He really bloom with the new trainer and love a happy hug more then anything so far.

I do too.
But I'd start over completely.
But it doesn't sound like the new trainer uses markers, so not sure what you're asking. You mean, can you do it on your own and forget the new trainer, or what?
Dexter is kind of dull in general not much drive for any thing, he is better with the verbal praise of the new trainer but not showing great happiness. Now he will look up, use to look at the floor.
I just want to find a way to help him have some fun and play. Sleep is his great motivation or a run in the wood. I want him to be more interactive with me.
I find a lot of good stuff with the new trainer but think that food can be use in a good way.

To stop hand mugging with my dobe when he was a pup i held the food in a closed fist let him nibble and push until he gave up, then i marked and rewarded. this may or may not be useful depending on the size, age and drive of your dog. An large adult dog with high food drive might hurt you by accident in the process.
Later i taught the dog to look at my face and not my hand, but this is only useful if your not luring anymore.
all training is better and more fun with markers IMO.
