Well had a guy that trains psd and schutzhund see part of my problem tonight. Outted great for him on all toys, my turn came, wouldn't out. Said the best thing for this dog is to put him on a pole, have 3rd person just use prong to nag him (hard corrections tick off) and me work on the out. Said this dog needs to be worked a couple times a day, easier said than done. But we'll try it and see how it goes.
oh, I got the dog since the man who owned him had a heart attack and was in the hospital for 6 wks. Wife couldn't work him. should've told me something there.
Oh and I've already worked him today on the pole, outting every time. Will continue to do this during the week, and start doing other places beside in the yard. He's just the typed that has to be worked daily apparently and get it memorized that I own the toys and he is just borrowing them. Protection work he always automatically outs the sleeve whew. So problem just seems to be the toys for reward. We did do bite work indoors last night due to rain, which he had never done before and he did great with bark and hold on 2 diff helpers in the clubhouse. So going to hang onto him for a few more months to see how he progresses with this guy and me, still use him to stud my female later this month. This guy trains psd and sport dogs for a living, so hopefully we both have a chance, because I really don't want to give him up. So I'll keep everyone posted.
some dogs will never play second fiddle and they will spend their entire life trying to fulfill their true destiny. There are dogs like this that are just oozing with potenetial but are held back for this very reason. I think this dog would be great for breeding in my opinion and any pups that were like their dad would make great police dogs like their dad would as well. If you continue to train this dog for sport you have to show no fear and back up what ever you command. Train with a purpose moving quickly from one exercise to the next with lots of praise to balance out the corrections. There is hope with the right training technique but you may have to accept this dog is "the real thing",Good luck
