Oh well hopefully we will come up with something else but for now I just want his stomach to heal.

A couple joint supplements that I've used with good success with Missy are Animal Naturals "Joint Strong" and Cetyl M Advance. I also know someone who has a middle Border Collie with pretty significant arthritis in his feet due to a tick illness. But on the Cetyl M he is still able to work just fine without pain. Might be worth looking into/discussing with your vet after Thor is healed up.
