Fun night at the club. Worked some OB under distraction and some long downs with heavy distraction. I took some bites off of one of our brightest young prospects, only to find out I was demonstrating the dog for a buyer. He says he's going to join the club and bring Duke back to work with us... I sure hope so.
Did some dumbbell retrieves for the first time under distraction. She was solid, especially considering we had only done them at home with no distraction. She did veer off a little on the first rep while distracted, but I refocused her with a second bring command, and she came in, fronted, and presented. She came straight back on the next two reps, and I called it a night.
A new member with a 6mo GSD wanted to meet and greet. We've been working on desensitizing, so I relented (with a couple of caveats, such as not to close, posturing/growling means it's over, etc). Sadie downed and stayed quietly while the pup approached and checked her out, but then the pup growled. Sadie's hackles rose, so I stepped in, chased away the pup and owner, and let Sadie know it was okay. She settled again, then I marked and took her to another area for some upbeat training.
Some nice ob work in the wood today. Tonight I got a perfect recall from Harley as he was chaseing a rabbit in the yard.
I am also working on report to hand for agility.
I did more nosework trying hard to get creative with the hides. The tackroom cabinet with tonnes of smelly stuff and the barn watering can in witch we put some pine sol and water when we water the barn aisle before sweeping and in a chuck it ball.
Harley was a bit confused about the ball, he was not sure if he shoudl give me the ball or indicate. He did both he got the ball but laid down on the spot. The two other hides posed no trouble.
