Just now I vaccinated a GSD pup, 8 wks, for the son of a friend. A black with tan markings. Apparently the owners haven't kept up the papers, but have the sire and dam and supposedly one or both are German dogs. The young man who brought this pup to me works at a prison in central Minnesota. He was home for the weekend.
What a nice dog, been a long long time since I saw such a calm, collected sound looking
smart GSD. Not frail, not nervy just a really nice pup. Not mouthy at all. Calm.
My vet said essentially the same thing about my dogs ... "I like to see this kind of temperament in German Shepherds, but so rarely do."
My gang is all working lines. Not much phases them. I'm really liking what I see in the next generation.
FWIW, Chance, Dallas & Nikki were all Leerburg dogs. Nikki's pups are from Tom vand't Leefdahlhof lines. I like the good solid temperaments. The pups dad had the rep for being able to do SWAT and drug busts in the morning and then do kindergarten safety town in the afternoon.
I will take a photo when the pup (Dallas is the name) comes for booster shots.
It must be some sort of working line, comes from a small farm home in a town where the main employer is a prison. The breeder had both sire and dam and is law enforcement.
