I am just catching up, Tracey glad that Sugar is feeling better! It's no fun when they get sick, and a bit scary too. What a great relief to have her feeling better!
She is doing great thanks, took her out to stretch her legs with the pack yesterday, and she did her first poo in nearly a week!
She was really happy mooching along next to me, though Kaiser kept trying to tempt her to play with lots of bowing and spinning – his usual invitation to play, she broke into a trot a few times, and it gladdened my heart to see her tail up and wagging again
I have kept her on the poached chicken and rice, and have been travelling through old LB posts for info on raw; I think if I even just have her on raw, (Kaiser does fine on the dry, that dog has the constitution of an Ox) I think it will definitely be the best for her in the long run, if it was an acute pancreatic issue, and if it is something that can be prevented with diet, well that’s a no brainer for me.
I’m just so very pleased to see my Sugar coming back
Thanks again for all your kind concern for Sugs, I do appreciate it.
if in the next 48hours she goes downhill again, we will do a full blood work, ultra sound, and if necessary, an exploratory, all of which I would like to avoid putting her through, if she eats and picks up on her own.
So no blood work was done at all? I'm not a vet but that seems strange.
We discussed all the options and procedures available, my gut feeling was she had started to pick up, and as I live exactly 1 minute across the road from our vet, I knew I could call and have her there in a flash, but if I could avoid putting her through unnecessary upset at the very time she was looking and behaving more like her normal self, I decided, with the vet, that was the best thing for her at that time, if the vet or I had thought it was crucial, I wouldn't have hesitated.
Whatever malaise had affected her has passed and thankfully she is more and more like her normal and cheeky self every day, but I would have given her my own blood if I thought it would have helped at the time, so if I had of had any doubt , I would have pushed for every test available, and I know the vet would have insisted on that too, but I understand your question
She is back to being a saucy minx, and those big brown eyes are shiny again; those couple of days when she just slept, and showed no interest in food were so out of character, I am just so pleased and relieved I have my girl back!
