I like terriers a lot, and I think there's a good assortment of smaller (under 20 pounds) terrier breeds out there that I admire. However, their propensity for killing small creatures and also dog intolerance is a turn off. If I want a vermin killing, dog intolerant dog I'll get another pit bull and be happy.
I also like the Schipperke and well bred smaller poodles.
My intention with a smaller dog is obedience, agility, and an active house dog. I'm pretty active outdoors so brachycephalic breeds are charming (love Frenchies!) but probably out of the question.
Does anyone have suggestions for small dog breeds? I'm open to adopting but would prefer to go with pure or dogs that have a strong primary breed look.
You have a couple of Mals now, right? Radar and a female (sorry, forgot second name)?
What about a Swedish Valhund, Papillon (sp?), some Mini Schnauzers aren't so bad but idk...Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are good for agility (just keep the feet trimmed)...oh and what about Min Pins and Alaskan Klee Kais?
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
