When my last dog was diagnosed with cancer at 12 1/2, the new vet we started seeing couldn't believe he was that old, he thought physically he was more like a 6 year old. After I confirmed Id had my dog since a pup he told me he thought the reason he was in such good shape was because he was intact. He then told me how there was a new school of thought and research to support leaving an ovary in, or males proud cut. This was in 2010. I personally think it makes a ton of sense that (sex) hormones are important for other body functions. I've been weighing having Amber spayed soon, its such a tough decision, and how do I weigh the benefit of an ovary sparing surgery vs. complete removal?
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.
