I know we'll all remember to keep our dog inside tonight, and away from loud startling groups of masked kids with hats, flashing lights, etc. .... and away from the chocolate we're giving out. (In fact, send it to me; I will guard it.)
LOTS of candy and gum goodies have bad-for-dogs ingredients, so it's probably easiest just to put them all high up on a shelf.
I know the regulars here know all this, but it never hurts to post it for new owners who may otherwise have a big tempting bowl of dark chocolate, macadamia nuts, and zylitol gum on the coffee table.
The three youngest grand kids were over tonight. they do the Halloween thing in my neighborhood every year.
The problem with that is they sort all their stash here before they go home. They also know that Pop will eat whatever they don't want.
I'm already stuffed to the gills with candy in addition to leftovers from the big bowl at our house.
My dogs never have access to and are never given any sort of candy.
Charlie had his first real halloween trick-or-treating last night - he got a handful of candy and got to go on a hayride. Trick-or-treating around here is unusual - either you drive to the rich neighborhoods and take your car door to door there or you attend a church halloween festival. I'll make myself sound old by saying that I don't think driving from house to house and dropping your kids off is real trick-or-treating.. you toss a pillow sack over your back and head out for 2 hours, hiking to every house with a light on and make it back home with the spoils!
