I live in Phoenix. This time of year I just let the dogs self-regulate. If they are hyper we'll go out and play but if they are content to just chill we skip all the physical stuff we normally do. They get hot WAY before they get tired so I find it just isn't worth it. They tend to do some blasts around the yard in the middle of the night but that's about it.
Wow. Cheri, sounds good. I must have a look for one of those water bottle carriers. I until now used a backpack whith which I can carry other things too I sometimes need. The two dogs which whom I go first, while we have still a very plreasant temperature, have to carry their supply themselves in their own backpacks, 2 small bottles, 1 on each side. This works well too and apart from this helps to keep them fit.

I found this neoprene water bottle carrier, too, which comes in two sizes, and the larger one would carry a 40-oz bottle. It would be heavier, of course, but maybe better for longer walks.
Like Christina, I too have carried a small, lightweight backpack on occasions when I have been on vacation and gone for longer hikes. Makes it handy to carry other stuff you might need. But I really like the neoprene bottle holders for shorter walks close to home.
It's a fabulous idea. thanks for the tip, Cheri! Other great tip: Engage your husband or boyfriend as carrier, just in case he's usable for this. Mine is way too lazy, LOL.

I like Christina's idea of pressing the significant other into service. Unfortunately, I haven't one. lol
Because of the heat we do a lot of short walks if she insists she just has to go outside. I need to check out the carriers recommended. I hate trying to carry a water bottle or anything else that doesn't leave my hands free to deal with whatever we may run into on our walks. Generally we do a mile at one of our parks that has a lot of trees but that only makes it a little cooler. And I'll have to find a collapsable bowl for her.
I have Chronic Fatigue so we tend not to go on really long walks. And our longer walks are in the very early morning when it's cool.
I'm sorry for this problem, Sandra. If I suffered from Chronique Fatigue I'd of course organize all this differently like you. Either way I find early morning walks for me too the best. Durng winter time though I could go later. But the dogs are so accustomed to those hours now, they begin to whine when I'm not punctual, unless we have heavy rains. They don't like this, but at least this spares me carrying water bottles. I'm brutal enough to walk them even in the rain, unless it comes with a thunderstorm. Then we all would be too scared.

This is the bowl I bought. There are many similar bowls out there, some with lids, some with a carry case, some made out of nylon material, etc. This one is made out of silicone and I like the fact that it weighs almost nothing, folds very thin, and makes no noise as you're walking along with it clipped to your belt loop or wherever.
Thanks for the link, Cheri, looks very practical. I guess I could use this very well, because I often make long walks along the seaside. But the water I still would have to carry. And wouldn't it be somehow disturbing, when we go for swim?
I don't like to leave things at the beach, because we have pretty many thiefs here. I always go swimming with all the package I have with me.
Sandra, about "the significant other one". Lol. I'd recommend you to acquire one! But make sure, he likes a little walk and carry somethings you'll need.
