Hi, everyone, I haven't been on in forever but just thought I'd say hi. I have another GSD, and have been doing quite a bit of training/hiking/ desensitizing., and I'll be adopting a retired working dog in the near future (which is exciting). Can't wait to see how they will bond and the mischief the two will cause. Hope you all have been happy and healthy.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.
Hey, Jodi! It's great to see you. If you feel like it, I would enjoy hearing a bit more about your present GSD and the dog you are soon expecting. Age, gender? You did mention hiking. Are you pursuing any other particular sports or activities with them? I hope we'll see you around.

GSD: Female, 18 months
We invented our own sport which is a combo of eventing, hunter pace, and nosework. Several friends and I do it with our dogs, its fun, exhausting, and is "outside the box" We make the rules up as we go along.
my new dog is a male, can't wait for him to join the family.

I'm familiar with equestrian eventing, so I guess you're just adapting that to the dogs. I admit I had to Google hunter pace, and it looks like an equestrian sport, too, but also one that could be easily adapted. It all sounds like fun, healthy physical activity for both the people and the dogs, though you mentioned the word "exhausting," and I'd have to agree. I bet everybody sleeps well at night.
Best of luck with your new boy. I hope you'll check in and tell us about him when he arrives.
