I will agree that two biggest constraints come from their background as catchdogs. One being they are all prey the other being they are very independent. However, the scott strains are the ones who have been more successful at catching due to their heat tolerance, size, build, and muzzle length. These are the more prey driven dogs. So they would be more specialized for this sport.

On the opposite side is the johnson strain, they have not been as specialized in catching. They are more known for protection but are limited by their size, build, and endurance for traditional sport protection work.

Again these are general terms for the breed as a whole.

I dont agree that they are dog aggressive not even in the most general of terms, either side. This is not a part of their background except for very small strains.

What you see in your girl, leaving the sleeve, is NOT typical. I have never seen this kind of aggression in an AB (leaving the sleeve). I have seen it in a GSD though lol. In fact many protection events at shows are surrounded by other dogs with their owners watching. Although it obviously exists on a small scale it is not desired as it does no good for protection or catch work.

Your girl is based off the scott strain of ABs there is no johnson blood in her. Lets not forget you also got your ab due to a debate on natural dog training, am I right??? JEL is a big advocate of no training and completely believes in the natural dog. I think if you had hands on experience with a line that has been bred for protection work you may find different.

IN abs when one says hybrid it is a mix of the two bloods just so you know where I was coming from. I wasnt saying you picked the dog due to its strain, far from it, I dont know you enough to make an accusation such as that.

I appreciate your response, I just think you should see more abs before stating they are that animal aggressive.

PS one of the things I am breeding for here is the dog that is more human attentive than animal. So hopefully in the future you will see more of this as I myself believe it is very important.

PSS and to wolf, its not even worth it as in a previous post you already stated you have never been around these dogs only know what you read. HOpefully you are reading this.

I wish you lots of luck with your breedings Tracey. I think it can work. Especially if you want to try to select them to be more human aggressive. I think this would dramatically help the Pit Bull's general performance as well. That's all I meant with what I said.
