I purchased a bitch from a guy who got it from the importer who brought the dog in from Germany. Now the importer got a Bershinigin (sp) in his name. Do I have to get another Bershinigin in my name to register this dog, or can it the tranfering be done on the application from the AKC as it has spaces for transfer of ownership. I am a bit confused.
Michael,
I have had to register imports a few times although it was a while back....if the importer is in this country and he got the 'beshinigathingy' in his name, he can register the dog with AKC and then transfer the dog to you thru the AKC.
Is that the info you were looking for?? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
If the Beschinigun is in the importer's name, there is a space on the akc foreign registration for importers name, then in that same space is who you directly aquired the dog from and the guy you got her from would need the first supplemental tfr section filled out to you. Just a heads up, date of purchase is the date on the Beschinigun. They held up Brix's paperwork for a month just to call me and ask if they could change it. It has to match the purchase date. e.g. I paid for dog 1 wk before besh. stated. so I put those dates. They HAVE to match or they'll hold it up.
Ok I understand that the importer can do the AKC thing, but I have to find him. The guy I got the dog from sighned everything over on the application to me, from the importer, so all I have to do is sighn the application in the space provided and send it to AKC with the Bershiningin in the importers name? Or do I have to get a new Bershininigin? (AKC said yes but I get a different answer everytime) I have imported dogs before, and did the AKC thing, but never did I have to transfer a dog that I did not import. Thanks for the help. I just do not want to send it and get everything held up. The application seems to allow for transfer of ownership two times after the importer. Thanks for any and all help guys,(and gals)
This is an interesting topic, I am getting a puppy this month from Germany, and I am trying to learn what yall have to say about HOW TO get registration done. I believe the Breeder I went through will help me get this done.
As long as the guy you bought the dog from fills in the importer information on the papers, fills out himself as first supplemental and you as 2nd supplemental. Besh. in importers name should be just fine. Just all has to match. e.g. on pink papers, broker friend of mine was on that, so he became the importer, but BS was in my name. So I just had to fill in importer since his name was on pink papers and fill in reg owner for me. Also check you pm's
